Greetings from a July 2009 Virginia candidate. I am blogging about my self study for reinforcement of concepts and to blow off steam. Feel free to click if you're interested; no offense taken if not. Good luck on your exams!

Is there an M.S. at an Arizona school that would meet category B of the patent bar requirements?
Does anyone know of a masters degree at either Arizona State University or University of Arizona in science/technology that may qualify one to sit for the patent bar? I went to Arizona State for Undergrad and got a criminal justice degree. I'm interested in moving back to Arizona post-law school and getting an M.S. to qualify to sit for the patent bar. If I still lived in Arizona, I'd just go to the school and talk to an adviser but I am 2,000+ miles away...I'd really appreciate any help! thank you.
P.S. I am sorry if a "patent" bar question is inappropriate for this community. I was unsure....

Classes that are the most helpful for the bar?
I'm a second year trying to weigh my options for which "bar courses" I should actually take. Advice? I expect to take either the Minnesota or Arizona bar exam (I may take the bar in Minnesota and waive into Arizona, as the option will be available in a few years..). Thank you!

Has anyone taken the Arizona bar?
I am attending law school out of state, but plan to take the Arizona bar in a couple years. Has anyone taken it? I'd appreciate any advice regarding navigating the process, what I need to submit, etc.. I wouldn't be so zealous about it if I wasn't doing this from 2,000 miles away... The transition makes me nervous. Thanks for any help!

Barbri's Essay Advantage
Is anyone doing the Barbri Essay program? Did anyone already do it? Do you think it's worth the extra $275?

I realize this isn't actually a bar question but I am taking the MPRE in August and today will my first actually day of studying for it. But I've heard from both sides of the spectrum that it is either really easy or really hard.
I had planned on studying just a few hours a week (leaning more towards the really easy crowd) but now I’m wondering if I should dedicate more time given that more people are beginning to say it was really hard…Any thoughts on the brutality of this particular exam?

Ok, so. I graduated from Law School last spring and still have not yet taken the Bar. (I know! I know!) My husband and I weren’t planning on staying in the state and I didn’t want to have to take it twice. Now, however, circumstances have changed and we are staying here (we actually just bought our first house!). Anyways. Although my job doesn’t require me to take the bar (I work in politics) I figure I might as well take it just in case. (In case of what I have no idea, but I feel like that is the most common reason)
Here is my question: I will be taking the MPRE in August (yes, I didn’t take that either) and am planning on taking the Bar in February but I will also be working full time and will get little if any time off to study, except maybe a few days right before the exam. So, should I begin studying for the Bar now, perhaps a few hours a night? Or will that just burn me out making it impossible to study right before the exam?

Any suggestions re: working and studying for the Bar, specifically, New York?
Any thing I SHOULD do, things I should NOT do under any circumstances, or general sentiments?

Good orgs for a 1L to join?
Hello. I am a 1L this year (insert shocked look here-lol). I am interested in getting input as to what orgs are good to join. My goals are networking/socializing, and getting an edge on scholarships.
It seems like Phi Alpha Delta could be good regarding scholarships and socializing? and I wonder if joining the ABA in the first year could have advantages too?
Any input would be great. Thanks! :) Current Mood: curious

Anyone here planning on or did use a Mac for the bar? Our school has graciously arranged for several macs preloaded with boot camp for students that don't have PCs. I'm a little nervous. Thoughts?

which looks better on an attorney's resume?
I apologize if this post is inappropriate for this community. My motivation to post in this community is simply to get an attorney's perspective on this issue:
I am currently a paralegal who plans to attend law school in the near future. I don't know what specialty of law I want to practice but something in either corporate law and/or IP law seems particularly attractive to me. With this in mind, when I apply for my 1L summer internship, which would look better on my resume?
1. Paralegal for a large personal injury law firm.
2. Paralegal for a IT consulting company-drafting and editing contracts.
I have been offered both positions. I feel torn because I am unsure if the law firm experience/attorney recommendation would be stronger, or if the exposure to the IT field/writing contracts for a living would be more attractive. Any ideas? Thanks for your input! Current Mood: contemplative

I apologize if this is inappropriate content for this community. I figure since this community is geared towards the bar you all have acquired the experience I am interested in.....
Here is the deal: I have gotten a full ride scholarship at a law school in Oklahoma. It is tier 3 school, but it's a full ride scholarship-I think I would be stupid to refuse the offer. My concerns are I don't know what the legal community is like in Oklahoma City and I don't know how hard it would be to get a good internship coming from a tier 3 school. Does anyone know if Oklahoma City has decent law firms? and most likely I will want to move out of state after I finish school...are there any firms in OKlahoma City that have offices in other states? how hard is it to get an internship out of state? About me: I am very ambitious. I don't have any commitments (like a partner or kids) holding me back from working long hours or working/living where ever I please. I expect to have a good ranking in law school and I aspire to be on the law review. Currently, I would be interested in working in business/corporate law.
Any information would be GREAT! Obviously, I feel very overwhelmed about this decision and I only have a month to figure it out! Aaaahhhhh!!!
Thanks :) Current Mood: contemplative

Is anyone else near Rockland County studying for the February NY State Bar Exam and looking for a study partner? I find that I learn better if I am studying with someone else. (I am a graduate of Pace Law School.)

I passed the AL bar in 2004 and am now considering a move to FL, and therefore sitting for the bar. Any suggestions at all? Should I try to take BarBri again? Buy off ebay?

So um. . .
Not heard from anyone since the bar exam. . . at least here. EVERYONE I work with has been asking about it though. Is it the same for you guys? Do you want to post a sign begging people not to ask? Or do you welcome the commiseration?

So what kind of percentages are you guys getting on your MBE practice questions? I gotta tell ya, I don't like my numbers at all.
